If you’ve been around us for more than 2 seconds, you know that we LOVE and preach about paid ads.
Why?
Well… basically because we like money:) And we prefer it consistently and predictably, thank you very much.
But we also do TONS of organic marketing, and they both feed off of each other, and both have their pros and cons.
➤ Paid ads require some spend, and a basic tech setup (pixel, landing page, etc), but you can control who you reach, and how many do you reach.
➤ Organic doesn’t require spending or any setup, but you can’t really control who you reach or how many. You’re capped by your connections, and the reach that the algorithm wants to “bless you with” that day…
However, organic marketing is a great way to do a couple of KEY things:
➊ Get (and serve!) your first 10 clients — we talked about this on the first phase of scaling a business. Use organic to kickstart your business, and get some 💵 flowing, to then spend on ads.
➋ It’s easy to get and share testimonials. E.g. have your clients post a win, and tag you. That creates a little virtuous cycle. People on THEIR network find out about you, you can add them to your network, etc.
➌ And it’s great for testing marketing angles cheaply.
For example, let’s say you’re selling… idk, custom woodworking services…
You could try angles for:
— Custom dog house…
— Romantic gazebo…
— Custom kitchen cabinets…
— Office setup (desk, library, etc)…
When you see one that works best, give it a few more spins:
— Custom dog house in 24-hrs…
— Custom dog house plus a complimentary dog bed…
— Custom dog house with insulation…
I’m kinda making these up, but hope you see the point.
So here’s some homework for you.
List the problems that you solve, and the benefits you provide…
Write organic posts for them with a call to action…
Then run the winners as ads!
That way you get the best of both worlds;)
