Wanna know what the great Les Brown just told me

Just in case you haven’t heard of Les, here’s the backstory so I can put this valuable lesson I got from Les in context…

Les is one of the Top motivational speakers on the planet, despite being born with his twin brother, Wesley, in an abandoned building in Liberty City, a low-income section of Miami, Florida.

He was given up for adoption and adopted by Mamie Brown, a 38-year-old single woman who worked as a cafeteria attendant and domestic assistant.

He was declared “educable mentally retarded” while in grade school, but nowadays he gets paid about $50,000+ to do a ONE HOUR speech (plus all his travel expenses are covered).

Pretty cool, huh?

So what is this lesson that Les told me?

Let me explain…

So yesterday a good friend and “brotha from anotha mother” of mine, Ty Cohen, sent a text in our Mastermind Text group and said…

“Hey fellas, can y’all do me a favor?”

I immediately replied…

“Of course! What you got?”

He then sent a link and said…

“Buy and listen to a few chapters of that today. Every time I do I pull off something crazy! Or have a major breakthrough. It’s old, but the principles are timeless!”

Ty being someone I respect as a business man, father and husband, my immediate reply was…

“Buying Now!”

I had just got in the car to head to the gym for leg day so it was perfect timing to listen to it.

I saw that the audio was 48 minutes long and I normally listen to audio on 2x the speed, so I knew I’d have it done before I got to the gym.

Half way through the audio, Les said something that grabbed me by the throat like a WWE wrestler…I didn’t want to forget it so I immediately made a note of it on my phone.

Side Note: I was sitting at the red light while making the note, so everyone was safe.

Back to the story…

So what was this thing that Les told me via this audio?

In his exact words, he said…

“The most difficult thing I’ve ever done is to BELIEVE that I can do what I’m doing now!”

I could so relate to that, because when I dove head first, like Michael Phelps diving into a swimming pool to win another gold medal, into this online biz world, and start putting myself out there, my initial thoughts were…

“Who’s going to listen to and buy from me?”

“I grew up in a drug infested environment”

“I’m a 10th grade drop out”

“I have no degrees…I don’t even have a diploma!”

“I have tattoos and gold teeth”

“I’m from Atlanta so I talk with a little slang at times”

“There are people who are way more successful than I am and have been

doing this longer than me, so why should they listen to and buy from me?”

And the list goes on and on…

As I thought about what Les said as I got closer to the gym, I said to myself…

“WOW! Just like Les…The hardest part of my journey has been BELIEVING that I could do what I’m doing now!”

I didn’t initially believe that people would…

  • Watch millions of hours of my online videos…
  • Listen to 10’s of thousands of hours of my podcast…
  • Read my emails, blogs and Facebook post…
  • Show up at my events…
  • Invite me to speak at their events…
  • Buy my online courses and memberships…
  • Pay me to coach them (I have clients in countries I haven’t visited yet and have had some in countries I couldn’t even pronounce)…
  • Actually apply what I teach them and make obscene amounts of money and  create an amazing lifestyle for their families.

I honestly didn’t BELIEVE that, but because I stepped into it anyway, all of that has become a reality.

Wanna know something else I didn’t believe?

I didn’t believe that people would actually pull out their card and pay me to share my knowledge and expertise with them.

I looked at it as just something I knew and wasn’t that valuable so why would people pay me?

That way of thinking actually holds a lot of people back from monetizing their genius.

I’m willing to bet that you have some knowledge and expertise RIGHT NOW that people will pull out their credit card and pay you $3,000 – $10,000 for.

Don’t believe me? Many of my client success stories didn’t either, but they just trusted the process and I proved it to them.
